Whether you book your Licensed London Taxi in advance, hail it on the street, or obtain it from a designated taxi rank, certain extra charges may apply.
VAT Charges
We do not charge VAT. Other taxi services may charge VAT, so always be sure to check Terms & Conditions.
Minimum Fares
Most pre-booked taxi services have a minimum fare. This is to compensate the drivers who often travel a long way to pick up the passengers.
Administration Fees
All pre-booked taxi services have an administration fee. This is to cover the costs of doing business.
Booking Fees
All pre-booked taxi services have a booking fee if the taxi is booked by telephone or via the internet. This is a nominal fee of just £2.00 pounds.
Run-In Charges
All pre-booked taxi services have a “Run-In” charge. Whenever your taxi is pre-booked, you will find that there is always some money on the meter when you get into the taxi. This is called the “Run-In’ charge. This charge exists so that from the moment your taxi booking is allocated, your driver will come directly to pick you up without running the risk of someone else hailing your taxi.
Taxi Rank Extras
When you hire a taxi from the Heathrow Airport taxi ranks, an extra charge will apply. You can check the TFL website for the current charges.
Christmas and New Year
There is an extra charge for journeys during the Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Years holidays. This will apply to all London Licensed Taxis. This encourages drivers to work during these busy times, so that taxis are available when you need them most. You can check the TFL website for the current charges.
Soiling Charges
A driver or service may charge an extra fee if the taxi is significantly soiled, and the taxi must be taken out of service for cleaning. You can check the TFL website for the current charges.
Luggage, Additional Passengers, Assistance Dogs
There are no extra charges for luggage, additional passengers, or carrying of assistance dogs.
Speciality Services
Some taxi services, such as ours, offer speciality services. Each speciality service (weddings, tours, marshals, filming, treasures hunts, etc.) has its own fee structure. Please see the OUR SERVICES menu, above.
